Excavation was not a viable option because it was under the reinforced concrete slab to a new-build. Digging it up would have caused significant damage to the floor and coverings. Due to the limited access and the small size of the pipe, a robotic cutter was not an option.
Mark and the team contacted Picote to see if we had any tools that could work with their existing Picote Millers to remove this. The team already had a Super Midi, Maxi Miller and Mini Miller in their arsenal. Picote held a few calls and a short video call with Dyno-Rod managers to discuss the most appropriate solution.
The Dyno-Rod team were concerned about fitting the Twister Metal Grinder into the pipe as it was an access point and not a chamber. The bends in the pipe also caused concern. We were able to demonstrate the flexibility of the tool on the video call and with the help of a 100/100 T-junction show that the tool could be inserted as required.
Fortunately No Dig Live 2022 was running the following week so a small Dyno-Rod Team came to visit the Picote stand and see various demos. One demo included the Twister Metal Grinder cutting out a length of threaded bar. The Picote team demonstrated the tool cutting the bar out in a few minutes using a Maxi Miller following it with the Picote Smart Cutter™ to grind back the remaining stubs.
